I have been placed as teacher of the 2 and 3 year olds.
Yesterday we read the book, "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie," by Laura Numeroff. It's such a fun book, my kids love it. We read it once a week if not more! If you have never read this to your kids, you must get it and read it to your grandbabies. They would love it.
After we read the book, we did two activities with them. The first one was to draw a portrait of your family, just like the mouse in the book and then tape it with "scotch tape" on the wall. The kids had so much fun doing this, their imagination was really put to work! Here is Sophia's portrait. She said she wanted her daddy purple because that was her favorite color.
Lastly, we made pretend cookies. The kids practiced their cutting and then glued the chocolate chips on the cookie. This was great because I got to see which child was totally cutting and which one still had not mastered cutting with scissors. Look at Sophia's cookie. Always different! Look at her cutting and decorating. I am so proud of her fine motor skills! Of course, she wanted to make her cookie her way. Really different!
